~ Fiji - Tahiti ~ |
Dear
Lori,
We're home and unpacked but still dreaming of turquoise water
and tropical fish.
All aspects of our trip went according to plan - plane flights,
accommodations, meals. It was all wonderful.
Ray and Ed did the channel float at Kia Ora, and we all went
to Bird's Island at Tikihau and on the fishing picnic at Manihi.
We rode bicycles, played pool and putt putt golf, and were
in and out of pools and the ocean every day. We also all gained
weight.
At Manihi, we were given an upgrade to a deluxe over water
bungalow with air conditioning which was great since that
was the warmest spot. The other bungalows also had air conditioning.
Kia Ora had the largest, most convenient units and excellent
food. Tikihau also had excellent food and very unique bungalows.
Manihi had the greatest variety of fish, and the over water
bungalows were a wonderful experience. The dining room at
XX seemed to be run by native people. The food was fine, but
there were limited choices, and the service was terribly slow.
At all resorts, the service was gracious.
We all appreciate the excellent job you did in arranging our
trip and dealing with any issues that arose. I hope we will
have an opportunity to have you plan more vacations for us
in the future, and you are part of our Fiji and French Polynesia
experience.

Orana McCoy Travel!
Vicki and I are back
from our 10 day sojourn in South Pacific paradise, and I must
say, Sue
Michailidis planned our trip flawlessly. A day in Tahiti
was sufficient as Vicki and I had just enough time to take a
bus into Papeete and see its major sites. Of course, to be quite
honest - for anyone reading this review - Papeete, in my opinion,
wasn’t too dissimilar to a typical port of call with any
major cruise line. I remember Cozumel looking very similar.
So, in that regard, it wasn’t quite as exotic as I’d
expected. But again, it’s the capital of Tahiti, so one
must expect the appeal to tourism. Being only 8-10 miles from
the town center, we stayed at the Intercontinental Resort, which
had a terrific view of Moorea – our next stop.
Moorea, I think, was
the friendliest of the three islands we'd visited. We stayed
at the Pearl Resort - only a five minute walk from a grocery
and a five minute drive from the idyllic Cook’s Bay. To
anyone considering the French Polynesia as a future destination,
I’d highly recommend renting a car or scooter. The island
is less than fifty miles around, so the drive, with no stops,
is a measly two hours. Of course, for the curious tourist, you’ll
probably want to stop at Cook’s Bay, Jus De Fruits, the
Lookout, Temae Beach, and perhaps some various Marae (ancient
temples), which might push your trip back to six to eight hours.
Of all the culinary stops we visited (La Mahogany and Te Honu
Iti being two of the more distinguished places) our favorite
was Rudy’s, where the shrimp curry was worth the price
you pay (everything in the French Polynesia is expensive, so
it’s nice to get food that tastes expensive. In reality,
Rudy’s is no more expensive than the various other restaurants
on the island). For lunch, we walked to Chez Luciano for some
pizza. It was a reasonable priced meal, and the chef was quite
entertaining as he would screech like a cat on occasion. One
restaurant we didn’t try was Alfredo’s; our concierge
advised against it, claiming that she’d received quite
a bit of negative feedback about it, so Vicki and I took her
word on it. Why shell out the money for bad food, right? And
at Te honu Iti, I got to feed the stingrays, so I'd also recommend
at least one trip there. One downside to all the good restaurants
is that they are quickly dwindling. I had a 2007 printout of
the Lonely Planet, and many of the restaurants listed are no
longer in business.
Upon leaving Moorea,
Vicki and I didn’t think it could get any better. The
Moorea Pearl Resort had upgraded us, free of charge, to a premium
overwater bungalow, so neither of us could have imagined any
room for improvement; but, as Sue had so meticulously incorporated,
Bora Bora would be all that and more; thus, she made it our
last stop. Once again, the Pearl Resort upgraded us to a premium
overwater bungalow, only this time, the view was nearly inconceivable.
We were in bungalow 44, which was a direct view of the main
island and its two peaks, an uninhibited view yielding the vast
expanse of turquoise water and deep blue skies. I nearly fainted
(if fainting weren’t so “dainty,” I might
have!). Being that the resort was on a private motu, I was quite
pleased that Sue had suggested the half board meal plan, which
included breakfast and the three course dinners. We did, however,
go into town to try the pre-eminent Bloody Mary’s; although,
neither of us was as impressed as we’d hoped to be. The
setting, of course, is original with sandy floors and coconut
tables and stools – and even the food was good –
but to describe it as a nearly god-like destination is a bit
over the top in my opinion.
For the honeymooners
out there, I’d suggest a private and professional photoshoot.
Since it’s only the two of you, it’s often difficult
getting pictures with both of you in them. Talk to your resort’s
excursion desk to get the details. Vicki and I spent around
22000 pacific francs for forty pictures, and we were extremely
pleased with them.
In short, it may be
trying times economically, and although I was a little skittish
shelling out the money for it, I’m glad I did. It’s
not often a middle-class guy like me could say a vacation of
that price was truly worth the money, but in this case –
and this is just between you and me – I might have paid
more.
Thanks again for the
superb trip, or as they say in Tahiti, “Maururuu!”
Best wishes,
P. Adams

Melissa,
Our trip was great!
Once again Sue
Michailidis did a wonderful job! Our flight went well. The
weather in Kauai was nice with an occasional shower. The Grand
Hyatt was awesome and beautiful! The staff was outstanding and
the free breakfasts turned out to be a great bargain.
We went on a great sunset
cruise Friday. A luau for my 50th birthday on Sunday. A kayak
trip Tuesday and a Zodiak raft to the Napali coast on Thursday.
Thanks to Tish
Carreira for scheduling this all.
The rest of the time
we spent snorkeling with Chris from the Captain Andy's hut at
the hotel and we became good friends with him. One last note:
the pool at the Hyatt is one of the best Ive seen. It took us
the whole vacation to discover them all.

| Hi
Melissa & Faye,
Mat and I had the most amazing time in Bora Bora. The St. Regis
was a beautiful place to stay and the food was excellent at
all of their restaurants. Although we would have been perfectly
content to sun our selves and swim from our bungalow everyday
we were amazed by all the culture and natural beauty this island
has to offer. We were already planning an anniversary trip by
the end of our stay! Faye helped make everything hassle free
from travel to our meals and spa visits at our resort. Before
we left our travel, meals, and hotel were taken care of providing
for a stress-free honeymoon. Thank you for an amazing trip!!
Take care,

Well the entire trip was an absolute
success and I really must thank you for all your help. I must
say that we are infatuated with New Zealand and cannot wait
to return. We just loved the country, the people, the scenery,
the food...everything. And the Four Seasons is...just absolutely
spectacular. We were just blown away as the facilities are top

Faye,
It was a great trip! Met and surpassed our expectations. The
Tahiti Resort was a terrific recommendation - absolutely beautiful,
good activities (parasail, scuba, spa, etc.), and plenty of
sunshine and relaxation. Bloody Mary's was one of our favorites
as well. Thanks again for your expert advice and patience in
working through the details. It was the perfect culmination
to our big event.
I hope we get the chance to work with you again. (I'm also going

Lori,
We
just got back to Los Angeles this morning and I wanted to thank
you for doing such a wonderful job of booking our weddingmoon
vacation on short notice! Everything was perfect and exactly
the way you said it would be. My new husband and I are
extremely thrilled we selected you and your company for such
an important event! From boat transfers to airport greetings,
everything was easy and stress-free. I also want to thank
you for checking in with me on the day we were leaving to make
sure we got all of our documents. You always hear those
awful stories of how travel agents get your money and then ignore
you but you were so thoughtful and I truly felt that you cared
about us having a great trip. Thank you so much for making
it an amazing trip! We are going to recommend you to all
of our friends!

| Hi
Faye,
Sorry I was not able to respond until now. The trip was very
very nice! The overwater bungalow in Bora Bora was better than
we thought and I guess we got lucky on where the outside deck
was facing, which was towards the island and it opened up to
the lagoon, so it was a very terrific view. The water was so
clear and calm, and we went swimming and snorkeling everyday.
It was so relaxing and easy going, just want we wanted! There
wasn't much noise either, just the sound of the water which
was soothing.
Of course, the prices there were much higher than we could've
imagined, but we still managed and enjoyed the food there. Everything
went smoothly, there were no moments where we didn't know what
to do at the airport or anything as there was always someone
there to greet us and take us where we needed to go. It was
really a perfect honeymoon for us.
Thank you again for helping us plan it out so last minute! I
hope everything is going well for you and that you have a nice
summer! If we ever think about going back again in the future,
I'll be sure to let you know.

Hi
-
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you with your request
about the trip. Everything went very smoothly, the Pearl
resorts were perfect, uncrowded and exactly what we wanted.
We loved Bora
Bora and we managed to do our own thing too. Sue
did a great job sorting out transfers etc which was great not
to have to deal with on the spot.
The hotels were all friendly and it was an effortless vacation
for the three of us. The food was good in the hotels and
we also mixed in going to supermarkets for picnic lunches whilst
hiking, sailing etc not always eating in at the hotel.
My daughter and I saw some of the hotel demonstrations which
were informative, the raw fish dish preparation was great.
We rented bikes, got a flat tire, the people came to fetch us
in the pick up we were about 8 miles away but it was cool it
just happened and we ate mangoes waiting for them to show up!
We loved getting the coconuts and getting them prepared on the
spot.
So
as you see we had fun. We'd love to go back another time
and go to the even more remote islands. But next year
we are heading into the Andes but what memories we have of this
trip!
Hope
that helps. Please thank Sue M for us.

Hi!
We are very pleased that you have written to us and we are very
happy with our trip and experience in general. This was our
second trip to Bora
Bora and we still think that it is paradise on earth. We
went 9 years ago also with your travel agency. The services
at the Intercontinental
Hotel were very good . We recognized 2 of the ladies in
their personnel and they recognized us and treated us
very well.
We enjoyed our stay very much, and did parasailing, submarine,
aquasafari and land safari, drawings, watercolor paintings,
shopping, relaxing and contemplating those beautiful colors
, besides gaining 6 pounds.
I will highly recommend you and we will gladly use your travel
agency in our next trip and Holly

Hi

Thank
you SO much!
We
absolutely enjoyed every moment of our honeymoon. On behalf
of both Ali and myself, thank you so much for all your help
and advice because it totally paid off!
Both
the hotels were amazing and the service was excellent. We went
to the spa at the Bora
Bora Lagoon Resort and LOVED it! We also did parasailing
in Bora
Bora as well as snorkeling on both islands. AMAZING! The
OB was breathtaking and we spent lots of time on our balcony
gazing and admiring the beauty of the Bora Bora. We loved the
food at both places as well :)
We
were unable to do the shark and ray feeding because it rained
on Monday.
Thank
you for everything and hope to plan something with you again
soon :)

~ Tahiti ~ |
Hi
Faye!
Our
trip to Tahiti was wonderful. Everything went well and
we didn't have any problems with the tour package. The
transfers using Malama Tours on Tahiti and Albert Tours on Moorea
went
smoothly. I was suprised they actually kept to the schedule.
We
had a great time on Moorea. The following list are some
of the observations during our trip:
1.
The accommodations at the Sofitel Maeva Beach Hotel was good.
The room was nice. We liked the Sofitel because it is
a 10 minute walk from the Moana Nui shopping center. At
the Moana Nui shopping center is a Carrefour, the French equivalent
to Wal-mart. We bought most of our snacks, water and souvenirs
from Carrefour.
2.
The accommodations at the Intercontinental
Resort and Spa Moorea was very nice. The room was
nice and the activities were numerous. We liked the excursion
that took us out to a motu where we snorkeled. There were so
many colorful fish and the water was crystal clear. Snorkeling
in Tahiti was much better than Hanauma Bay. The spot that
we snorkeled was between the motu and "Dream Island."
From what I read, "Dream Island" is a private island
with vacation houses available for rent.
3.
The over-the-water bungalows we stayed in at the Moorea
Pearl Resort and Spa was very very nice. The room
was big and spacious, and was air conditioned. I thought
the snorkeling off the Intercontinental motu was nicer than
the snorkeling in the lagoons of the Moorea Pearl. But,
both snorkeling spots were still very nice. Another good thing
about staying at the Moorea Pearl is that the location is very
close to Maharepa. There are many "snack" restaurants
to eat at in Maharepa. There is even a mini-market where
we bought more snacks and drinks.
4.
Because our return flight departed Tahiti at 1225am, we spent
the Saturday afternoon walking around port area. We caught
the local bus, which costs 140XPF, to get to and from the port,
airport and Carrefour. I'm not sure what the bus schedule
is, but we didn't wait more than 10 minutes for each bus.
5.
We drove around the island. We also stopped by the Belevedeur
look out. While driving around the island, I noticed there
is no traffic signals on the island.
6.
We also bought a black pearl pendant and ear rings from Ron
Hall Jewelry.
7.
While on Moorea, we also saw the Tahitian Tiki Theater show.
The show was worth the price of admission. The food is
similar to hawaiian food so I enjoyed it very much.
All
in all, the trip was very memorable. We hope to go again
one day, next time to Bora Bora. If we do go back to Moorea,
we'd probably stay at the Intercontinental rather than the Moorea
Pearl.
If
you have any questions about our trip, please feel free to call
or email.
Thank
you for all your help!

Orana and Bula Melissa,
We
have been very pleased with both of our trips, last year to
Fiji and this past month to Bora
Bora and Moorea.
A big part of that was the wonderful service and assistance
we received from Lori.
She was very responsive, listened to our concerns, preferences,
etc., and delivered on what was promised or agreed upon. Just
as an example, we requested POWB # 45 and 426 for the Pearl
Resorts in Bora
Bora and Moorea,
respectively, and we got them. Her insight and advice on must-do
excursions and other particulars with regards to the resorts
and islands itself was dead-on!
We
were very pleased with our accommodations and overall travel
experience to both Fiji (Qamea)
and French Polynesia. The food and service at Qamea, in particular,
was amazing!! And we cannot say enough wonderful things about
the genuine warmth and hospitality of the Fijians, and the beauty
of their country. In fact, we are planning a trip for next year
back to Fiji, with diving in mind…
We
look forward to a long and productive relationship with you,

Bula
and Ia Orana! Lori,
Thank you for your kind words! Yes, we did have a lot of fun in
French Polynesia and a significant part of that was you making
sure we received the best possible accommodations (loved our bungalows!)
and service possible; plus advice on what was good to do with
each island. We would like to sincerely thank you once again!
With regards to our next trip, we would definitely like to plan
it for November of next year. We did like the 2 cruises you mentioned
as well as Likuliku. Qamea has made a lasting impression
on us. They are still the gold standard, even with Bora Bora of
recent. We will definitely go back there one day….
Take care, and we look forward to a long, productive, and beautiful
relationship with you as we travel. You will have to build in
a stop in Hawaii into one of our South Pacific forays either coming
or going. We would love to meet you! Or maybe you can meet us
in paradise (Fiji or French Polynesia; either one!).
Sincerely,

Orana and Bula Lori,
It
was nice talking with you tonight. We also wanted to let you
know that we got POWB # 45 at Bora
Bora and we were absolutely delighted with it. It had an
awesome view of Mt. Otemanu, and the lagoon in Bora Bora is
just spectacular!! The staff at both Pearls was great; not awesome
like Fijians as you pointed out before the trip, but they did
make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We did have the pleasure
of meeting both Kamala and Tony, and we availed of the Bora
Bora Deluxe spa package. It was expensive, but she gave us a
good deal with it (Vichy shower and an Ave massage for me),
so we bit and are so glad we did. It is probably the best if
not second best deep tissue massage I’ve had. We did not
get to meet Laura. But then again, between 6 dives each island;
circle lagoon tour, ATV, renting a car for a day to explore
Moorea, the Dolphin experience; tandem parasailing at 300 m,
jet ski tour, and lagoonarium at Bora Bora (whew…) we
did not have much time left over beyond exploring the beautiful
lagoon and enjoying our bungalows.
We
had a WONDERFUL time!! We are torn between going back to the
4 islands I mentioned, or doing 2 weeks in Fiji (one week diving,
possibly liveaboard; the other relaxing at a resort). Let us
know what deals are out there. We would like to go back either
late Oct. or early Nov. next year as I mentioned. We like the
off season; less people.

Thanks
Much Melissa;
First
I would like to say that throughout the trip we continually
said to one another – WOW – You
did a great job! Each leg of the trip got better –
when we didn’t think it could. To sum it up:
Princeville
Kauai – We were very impressed with the Hotel. Our
favorite activities there were either the Blue Hawaii helicopter
tour or the private horse back ride. The roasted pig at
the luau was fantastic. Weather was perfect. I would
not change a thing.
Sheraton
Moorea – The over the water Bungalow was fantastic.
When we arrived we thought that we made a mistake by not
booking the Sheraton Moorea for the entire trip and forgoing
Bora Bora. The snorkeling was fantastic. Also, we
rented a dune buggy and drove around the island.
Bora
Bora Nui – This was the pinnacle of the trip. Once
we arrived – we forgot about any notions of having forgone
this part of the trip. The private in room barbecue was
fantastic – I highly recommend. Also, there was
a restaurant called Bloody Mary’s that we enjoyed very
much. It was not until we saw this bungalow that we thought
that the Sheraton Moorea Bungalow was a little Spartan in comparison.
The bathtub and shower were great. The water was so blue
that it did not look real.
All
in All – we give the trip and the service provided by
McCoy a grade of an A+. We plan to use McCoy Travel next
year for our vacation plans. Not sure yet where we want
to go – however, we have thought about the following:
Alaska
or the Maldives
